6 Free Things To Do in Barcelona, Spain

By Dymphe / December 11, 2022

Here, you'll find 6 free things to do in Barcelona. Barcelona is a beautiful city in Spain with many great activities including some fun free things!

Table of Contents

  • 1. Hill Tibidabo
  • 2. Go to the beach
  • 3. Free festival
  • 4. Beautiful park
  • 5. Free museum
  • 6. Free walking tour

1. Hill Tibidabo

To get the best panoramic view of the capital of Spain, head to hill Tibidabo. It is quite a long walk, but you will be amazed by the view you are getting.

From here you can see the whole city and coastline.

Furthermore, the Sagrat Cor church, located on the hill is stunning as well and definitely worth your time.

When you are going to Barcelona, this is a must! That's because it is one of the best things to do in Barcelona.

2. Go to the beach

Want to see the city and the beach? That's great because in Barcelona you can easily go to the beach after a day in the city.

Barcelona has many beaches that you can go to for free. I would recommend going to Nova Icaria Beach, a beach that is a bit quieter than the other beaches!

3. Free festival

There are several free festivals organized in Barcelona throughout the year. Going to one of these can be very fun.

One of the largest of them is La Mercè Festival, which is a city holiday.

During this festival in September, hundreds of events happen throughout the city. Circus, dance, music, there is really a variety of a lot of things to do.

4. Beautiful park

Barcelona is home to many parks. Going to a park could be a very relaxing way to end your day in the city. When you want to visit a park, you should head to either Park Guëll or Parc de la Ciutadella.

Both of these parks are truly beautiful.

Besides the nature that is found in the park, in both parks, you can also find art that merges beautifully with nature.

This makes that Parc de la Ciutadella is also one of the best places for photography in Barcelona.

5. Free museum

There are many museums in Barcelona that you can visit.

Most of them offer free admission on the first Sunday of each month, and most have several other days (or parts of days) with free admission.

Examples are Picasso Museum, Natural History Museum, and City History Museum.

6. Free walking tour

One of the best ways to discover a city is on foot. However, you are missing a lot when you are walking through the city on your own.

A walking tour organized by a local will let you experience the history and culture of Barcelona much better. On this page, you will find many different types of free walking tours to choose from. Tipping is recommended!
