I'd especially recommend combining it with a visit to the Acropolis, because if you also go to this museum you will learn even more about the Acropolis.
7. Taste amazing Greek food
The Greek cuisine is truly amazing and Athens is the place to be if you want to have the best Greek dishes. There are many amazing restaurants in Athens where you can have dinner. I'd especially recommend going to Plaka or Monastiráki if you're looking for a restaurant! Here are many restaurants and you can check out the menus while walking by.
8. Go to Lycabettus Hill
For a panoramic view of this wonderful city, you can go to Lycabettus Hill! This is one of the best free activities you can do in Athens.
It's one of the best things to do in Athens if you love to climb a bit.
However, if you don't want to climb then you can go here too! Since there's also a cable car, you can just sit, relax and wait till you get to the magnificent view.
Furthermore, there are also some cute cafes on the hill where you can have something to eat and drink.
9. Go to the beach
Most people won't think about the beach when they think about Athens. However, there are beaches and these are amazing if you want to have a beach day! I'd definitely recommend going to one of the beaches in Athens, because you can go for a swim there and cool down a bit, especially during the summer months.
10. Do a day trip to Hydra
Greek islands are amazing and you can go to one of these magnificent islands during your stay in Athens! Hydra is only 1,5 hours by boat and it's just an amazing place to be. Hydra has beautiful blue water, cute colourful houses and there are many donkeys! Therefore, there are enough reasons to go there and it's really worth your time.
11. Visit the Panathenaic Stadium
The Panathenaic Stadium is located in the heart of Athens and it's the place where the first modern Olympics took place back in 1896.
However, even though the first Olympics took place in 1896 here, the stadion already existed for 2200 years then!
Furthermore, they only used marble when they built this stadium, which is very special because it's the only stadium that only consists of marble!

12. Visit the Temple of Olympian Zeus
A great temple to visit is the Temple of Olympian Zeus. It's a temple dedicated to the god Zeus, who was the king of the gods according to mythology. It took very long to make this temple because people started building it in 600 BC and it was ready in the second century AD. However, Barbarians destroyed the temple only a hundred years after it was finished! This temple was the largest temple in Greece. Nowadays, you can see the ruins of the temple, which is very impressive. There are still sixteen columns. There used to be 104 columns. Since this is really impressive, it's one of the best things to do in Athens.
