Walk Through Mile Square
On this first day of your one week in Indianapolis, I recommend going to Mile Square. This is the center of Indianapolis.
You find here the central business district of Indianapolis.
Many of the sights of the city are in this part of the city. And you also find here lots of shops, restaurants, and other venues.
This makes it a great place to start to get to know the atmosphere of the city.
I recommend walking around this part of the city to experience what the city is like.
When you do so, you can see the architecture, the people, and the busiest places, which is great!

You find lots of great sights in Louisville. Examples of this are the Kentucky Derby Museum and the Louisville Slugger Museum. Also, you can try out some great food in Louisville! If you're going here, you'll have a very fun day for sure.
Alternative: Go to the Marion County Fair
Another great activity during your 7 days in Indianapolis is going to the Marion County Fair.

Indianapolis Contemporary is a great place for this.
You can find here all kinds of exhibitions that focus on contemporary art.
So if you like contemporary art, you'll have a fun time here for sure!
But also if you don't like contemporary art in particular, then this can be a lovely activity. There is a large variety of art here, and there might be art you like a lot!
Because there are many changing exhibitions at the museum, you can often find new art at this place. This is especially great if you go to Indianapolis another time.
What's great is that you can see here local, regional, and international art!
Go Shopping and Have Dinner at the Circle Centre Mall
For the rest of the day, I recommend going to the Circle Centre Mall.
This is a shopping mall that you can find in Downtown Indianapolis.
You find here almost 100 stores that are great for a lot of hours shopping. If that's something you like, you'll have a great time here for sure!
What's great is that you find a food court at the third level of the shopping mall. So, after shopping at the mall, you can have dinner here as well!
Besides that, you find an arcade and a movie theater at the shopping mall as well. This means that you can also have a fun night here as well after dinner!
Day 5: A Fun Day About Racing and a Theater
You'll learn about racing today which is very fun! In the evening, you can go to the Hilbert Circle Theatre. So this is one of the most fun days of your 7 days in Indianapolis.
Go to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the Museum
One of the most famous places in the city is the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
This is a racing circuit that you can find a bit outside of the city center. The venue has more than 250,000 permanent seats, which makes this one of the world's largest sports venues.
It is where you can find the Indianapolis 500. This is an annual race with a distance of 500 miles.
When you happen to visit the city when the event takes place, you should definitely go there!
But if not, you can go to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum.
This is an automotive museum where you can learn about the Indianapolis 500.
Furthermore, you find here the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame. And there are all kinds of cars at this place.

This day, you should definitely go to the Hilbert Circle Theatre. Going here is so much fun for your one week in Indianapolis!

Besides that, there are art galleries that are great to see. And I definitely recommend going here.
Go to Oldfields-Lilly House & Gardens
At Newfields, you can also find Oldfields. Another name for this is the Lilly House & Gardens.
The estate you can find here is a US National Historic Landmark. In the past, a businessman from the city owned it.
The mansion is great to see and it is open to the public.
There are several historic rooms that look as they were in the 1930s.
Besides the mansion, the gardens that you can find here are amazing as well. And these gardens showcase a beautiful landscape design.
Visit The Children's Museum of Indianapolis
After seeing Newfields and Oldfields, you can visit the Children's Museum of Indianapolis.
This is a great place to visit, especially when you spend 7 days in Indianapolis as a family.
You find a large variety of items at the museum.
For example, there are dinosaurs, there is a carousel, and there is a locomotive.
All the exhibits of the museum are a lot of fun for children!
