In this post, you'll find 6 free things to do in Prague. These free activities in the capital of the Czech Republic are really so much fun. So I would highly recommend doing them!
Table of Contents
1. Prague Signal Festival
For 4 days each year during the Signal Festival, various light displays are created throughout the city.
Using light, several buildings, including famous landmarks, in Prague are transformed to look like modern art. This is very impressive to see.
Using their website you can find out where in the city you can enjoy the beautiful displays.
And because it is done throughout the city, you can just visit every display for free. The exact dates and more information can be found here!
2. Visit the grounds of Prague Castle
Looking to visit a real medieval castle? Look no further, you should go to Prague Castle. It was built around 880 and it has become one of the most important monuments of the Czech Republic.
Furthermore, it is one of the largest castle complexes in the world, which includes several other old buildings.
You can have a look at the castle and its surroundings for free by visiting the complex and the gardens surrounding the castle.
Going inside isn't free, but it is one of the best things to do in Prague.
3. Wallenstein Garden Free Music concerts in summer
In the summertime, you can visit Wallenstein Garden once (sometimes twice) per week to enjoy a beautiful classical music concert. Wallenstein Palace, which is adjacent to the garden, houses the senate of the Czech Republic.
The history and the beauty of this 17th-century garden make the whole experience even better. And best of all, it is completely free!
4. The National Gallery free entrance 5 times per year
On certain days in the year, you can visit the National Gallery of Prague for free! This museum in Prague features the largest collection of art in the Czech Republic.
The collection is housed throughout several buildings in the city. For a current overview of all free admission days, check out this page!
5. Panoramic view from Petrin Hill
Want to have a great overview of the city of Prague? Go to Petrin Hill.
This is a hill covered with parks and it is a popular recreational spot for locals from which you get a panoramic view of the city.
You can walk up there, and that takes about 30 minutes. You can also take the funicular, which may not be free, but it is really affordable (a bit more expensive than a dollar).
6. Free Walking Tour
Enjoy Prague by foot through a free walking tour (although tipping is recommended). Go for a tour of the old center of Prague, in which you learn a lot about the history of the city.
