1. See art for free

You can visit certain museums in Ottawa on certain days of the week completely for free.

For example, you can go to the National Gallery of Canada on Thursdays from 5 to 8 PM.

Here you find a collection of thousands of fine art objects from all around the world.

Another great museum in Ottawa is the Canadian Museum of History where you can learn a lot about the nation's history.

This museum also has no admission fee on Thursdays from 5 to 8 PM.

2. Go to the beach

Although you won't find a sea in Ottawa, you can find some beaches in the city. It can be great to see one of them.

One of the most popular beaches is Mooney’s Bay Beach. Here, you can play volleyball. Most importantly, you can go here completely for free!

3. Visit a free boat racing festival

The Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival is a festival that is held every year in June.

During this festival, there are many dragon boat races which are just so great to watch!

Furthermore, it is a very large event with thousands of participating rowers, hundreds of teams, and a lot of spectators.

When you are in Ottawa during the time that the Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival is held, I really recommend going here!

4. See the changing of the Guard at Parliament Hill

Every morning in the summer period, you can see the changing of the Guard happening on Parliament Hill. This is very special to see.

It is a beautiful event where you can see a traditional act together with lovely music. Here you can find more information!

5. Listen to live music

During Marvest you can see and listen to many musicians playing live music in venues spread over the neighborhood of the Glebe.
