There are several museums in Houston. For those looking for contemporary art, the Contemporary Arts Museum is a great place to go!

Here you find many temporary exhibitions throughout the year.

Furthermore, there is no permanent collection, so there is always something completely different when you are in the city!

This is also one of the best things to do in Houston.

2. See free entertainment

At the Miller Outdoor Theatre, there are many performances from March to November.

You can find several types of shows here, such as jazz music, theater, and ballet.

Best of all, all performances can be enjoyed for free.

3. Relax at Memorial Park

Want to go for a relaxing stroll in the park? Then go to Memorial Park! It is the largest park in Houston and one of the largest in the United States.

Also, it is a really old park, with a history of almost 100 years.

Moreover, you can go here to relax, sport, picnic, or do something else.

4. Enjoy some diverse art

Do you want to see some free art, but can't choose what you want to see? Then go to the Menil Collection.

There, you'll find all kinds of objects, such as paintings, sculptures, and prints.

Also, the genres are very diverse, ranging from objects from the Byzantine Empire to more contemporary art by Jackson Pollock.

5. Go to a free garden

At the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center, you find all kinds of trees to look at and learn more about. Especially if you love nature, I'm sure you'll like this activity.

It is truly a beautiful place to be. Furthermore, the arboretum is located in Memorial Park, so you can go there when you are done at the arboretum.

6. See the Waterwall

The Waterwall looks very impressive. You can go here to just look at the water falling, but you can also enjoy the surrounding nature, making this one of the best free things to do in Houston.
