6 Free Things To Do in Berlin, Germany

By Dymphe / November 22, 2022

In this article, you'll find 6 free things to do in Berlin. Berlin is the capital city of Germany, and there are great things to do if you are on a budget!

Table of Contents

  • 1. Visit the abandoned Berlin Tempelhof Airport
  • 2. Visit the Holocaust Memorial
  • 3. Do a free walking tour
  • 4. Stroll along a flea market
  • 5. Visit Reichstag
  • 6. Visit the Berlin Wall Memorial

1. Visit the abandoned Berlin Tempelhof Airport

The Berlin Tempelhof Airport was one of the first airports in Berlin but has been abandoned. It is located right in the middle of Berlin.

It has become a park where you can walk, go for a run, cycle, skate, or do any other thing you would prefer to do there. Going here is great as it's a very unique place.

Entry is free, which is great! Moreover, the airport covers an area that is larger than Central Park in New York City. So this is very impressive.

Furthermore, I cover it in my itinerary for one day in Berlin. It is a great place to start your day in the city!

2. Visit the Holocaust Memorial

The Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe is a memorial for the Jewish victims of the Holocaust.

It features 2711 concrete blocks that you can walk among.

This is also one of the best things to do in Berlin.

3. Do a free walking tour

The Original Free Berlin Tour takes you along famous sights and historical landmarks while you can learn about both the history of Berlin and the more modern part of Berlin!

You can book your tickets for the free walking tour here!

There are numerous flea markets in Berlin. One of them is RAW Flohmarkt.

Here you can find clothes, jewelry, antiques, and design, all supplied by local artists and designers.

5. Visit Reichstag

The Reichstag is now the number second attraction in Germany in the total amount of visitors.

The building is of historical importance, with the Reichstag fire as an important event.

The building was restored and now features a beautiful glass dome where visitors can go.
