1. Slovak National Gallery

For one of the best museums in Bratislava, go to the Slovak National Gallery! You can see many paintings here, which is really great. One of the best paintings in the museum is the mourning portrait of K. Horvath-Stansith.

But there is so much to see here. For example, there are many modern and contemporary paintings, graphic art, and other objects of this style.

But, besides modern and contemporary art, you can also see Gothic art and old European art.

Furthermore, the baroque art collection is one of the best collections of the museum.

Also, you find the museum inside the Esterházy Palace which looks amazing from both the outside and the inside!

2. Pharmacy Museum

Another great museum is the Pharmacy Museum.

What's interesting about this museum is that it is inside an old pharmacy. This makes the museum very unique.

Because of this, there is still a lot of furniture left, so you can exactly see what an old pharmacy looks like from the inside!

Also, there are many instruments and old books, which is really interesting.

Besides this, there are many baroque paintings that are beautiful to see!

3. Bratislava City Gallery

Go to the Bratislava City Gallery for an amazing art gallery and one of the largest in the country!

There are thousands of artworks at the gallery.

Moreover, these artworks range from old paintings and sculptures to more modern objects.

Actually, there is a large variety of artifacts at this gallery, so you'll certainly find something you like!

Also, there several temporary exhibitions throughout the year.

Besides the beautiful artworks here, the gallery is found in the Mirbach Palace and the Pálffy Palace.

4. City Museum of Bratislava / Old Town Hall

The City Museum of Bratislava is another amazing museum.

You can find the museum at the Old Town Hall which is really fun and very fitting to the purpose of the museum.

The Old Town Hall is the oldest city hall in Slovakia.

Furthermore, the oldest part of the building was already built in the 14th century!

You can learn a lot about the history of Bratislava at this museum.

There are numerous artifacts that all relate to some event in the history of Bratislava.

5. Danubiana

Danubiana is a great museum for those of you who like modern art.

The museum has no permanent exhibition, but there are many amazing temporary exhibitions.

Those exhibitions typically stay for 3 to 4 months and include all kinds of artworks from the modern period.

Also, this museum not only focuses on Slovak artists (although there are many great artworks by Slovak people), but you can see here many famous foreign artists' work as well.

For example, Sam Francis, Karel Appel, and Jan Kaplicky all were featured here.

What's also great at this museum is that there is a sculpture park.

Also, the museum can be found in the middle of the Danube river on a peninsula close to the city, which is very unique.

6. Museum of Jewish Culture

Want to learn more about Jewish culture and history in Slovakia? Then go to the Museum of Jewish Culture, part of the Slovak national museum.

On display in this museum are many artifacts that were important and relate to the Jewish population of Slovakia.

Furthermore, this museum has both permanent exhibitions and temporary exhibitions.

For example, there is one permanent exhibition that focuses on the holocaust and there is a model of a synagogue.

7. Bratislava Transport Museum

Another very interesting museum is the Bratislava Transport Museum!

This is a museum that focuses on everything that is related to transportation.

For example, there are many cars, motorcycles, and there are even locomotives!
