5 Best Things To Do in Stockholm, Sweden

By Dymphe / June 23, 2022

Looking for the best things to do in Stockholm, Sweden? Then read on, as this is the page where you find everything you need to know!

Table of Contents

  • 1. See the Old Town
  • 2. Go to the Nobel Prize Museum
  • 3. Get a view over the city
  • 4. Visit the Royal Palace
  • 5. See art at the Nationalmuseum

1. See the Old Town

Old Town (or Gamla Stan) is the oldest part of the city and where it all began.

It was created in the 13th century, but most of the houses here are from the 18th century.

Here you find a place with a lot of history, a lot to do (many things are located in Old Town) and very beautiful colorful houses (at the main square, Stortorget). For more information, check out this page!

2. Go to the Nobel Prize Museum

The Nobel Prize Museum is a museum dedicated to everything related to Alfred Nobel, the founder of the Nobel Prize, and the Nobel Prize itself.

For example, you can see here many objects that Nobel Prize winners donated together with information on the personal life of the winners.

Also, the building itself is interesting, as it used to be the Stock Exchange Building. Check out the museum's website here.

3. Get a view over the city

For the best view over the city, go to Skinnarviksberget.

This is the highest natural point of the city and from here you can see the skyline of the city.

Also, it is the perfect place to have picnics or to see sunsets (or both at the same time). For more information, check out this website!

4. Visit the Royal Palace

The Royal Palace is an impressive building. It is one of the largest of its kinds in Europe and it is still in use!

Furthermore, the King of Sweden lives here.

You can see the palace from the inside, where you can see the building, but also one of its five museums.

Also, make sure to not miss out on the changing of the guards! Here you can read more about it!

5. See art at the Nationalmuseum

Another great museum in Stockholm is the Nationalmuseum. Going to this museum is very interesting.

The collection of the museum comprises mainly drawings and paintings, and there are more than 500,000 objects in the collection!

Also, there are many famous paintings. A few are from Rembrandt. So it is really one of the best things to do in Stockholm.
