In this article, you'll find 6 reasons why you should travel to Menton in winter 2020! Menton is a very cute town in France close to Nice. It is the perfect place to visit in winter, and this below, I'll tel you why!
1. It's the perfect place to escape winter
If you're looking for a place to escape winter, Menton is the place you're looking for! The average temperature in winter is 12°C/54°F in Menton. The photo below was taken in January, and it wasn't cold at all! The sun was shining and I loved to wear my crop top and skirt. Besides the temperature, Menton will totally give you that summer feeling you're looking for during winter. The beautiful blue water (I mean, look at the photo, have you ever seen water that blue?!) and the lovely colourful houses will give you an instant summer feeling. Furthermore, you can go to one of the restaurants along the beach and have something to drink. What more do you need to escape winter? I don't think anything, because Menton is just perfect!
2. Menton is less busy in winter
Menton may be known as a perfect summer destination, which means that it is less busy in winter! At the photo you can see how empty the beach is, and the rocks that I'm sitting on were also really empty. It is just so relaxing to be there and find your own place to sit down for hours!
3. If you're in Menton, you can also visit Monaco, Nice and Villefranche-sur-Mer
Menton is located in Côte d'Azur, which means you can visit other beautiful towns too during your stay in Menton! My favourite places near Menton are Monaco, Nice and Villefranche-sur-Mer.
Monaco is one of the wealthiest places in the world with some wonderful viewpoints and huge and luxurious yachts. It's really impressive to see and you can eat delicious ice creams there. Nice is the city you'll probably arrive first before you get to Menton. It's a bigger city and if you are in the mood for shopping, it's perfect! Villefranche-sur-Mer is a small town with some amazing viewpoints too. The beautiful viewpoints are near the train station, which is perfect. Especially sunsets in Villefranche-sur-Mer are magnificent.
All those places are easily accessible by train from Menton! Train tickets aren't really expensive there and the trains are very comfortable.

4. You can already practise your French language skills in case you're going to France in summer too
Since Menton is located in France, the locals speak French! This means that if you're planning to visit France in summer too, it's the perfect moment to already practise your French language skills! Seriously, I'd highly recommend visiting France too in summer, because there are so many beautiful places in France, such as Paris. However, if you don't have other travel plans to France, it's still so much fun to practise your French language skills and try to speak French with locals. I really love the French language so much, and I think it's one of the most beautiful languages in the world.
5. It's way more affordable
One very important reason why you should travel to Menton in winter, is that it is way more affordable in winter than in summer! Getting to Menton is most of the time more affordable, and furthermore, the hotels are way cheaper! It's the perfect chance to book a hotel with a magnificent view!
6. Menton is just so beautiful
The last reason is that Menton is just so beautiful! I still remember the moment when I saw Menton for the first time. I traveled to Menton from Nice by train and I arrived during sunrise. I really couldn't believe how beautiful it was. Especially in the morning, it is very quiet in Menton and due to the wonderful sunrise and the gorgeous water and houses, it is so idyllic and dreamy. If you read more articles on my blog, you probably know that I love traveling and that I love exploring new cities, but Menton has really been one of my favourite cities I have ever seen. Walking through the streets of Menton and enjoying the beautiful view from the rocks is just so relaxing.
