One Week in Seattle: Itinerary for 7 days in Seattle

One week in Seattle is a great experience. There is a lot to do in the city and 7 days in Seattle is perfect if you want to do it all!

Seattle is a great city in the United States and it's the largest city in Washington State. If you're thinking of spending 7 days in Seattle, that's definitely a good idea!

Seattle has many amazing sights, views, parks, and museums. Because of that, you'll have a great time for sure!

As there's so much to do in Seattle, it's convenient to know where to go and when. With this itinerary for one week in Seattle, you can make the most out of your time!

Before starting the itinerary, I'll give you some information on how to get there and where to stay.

Getting to Seattle for One Week

There are various ways to get to Seattle. You can get there by train, bus, car, and airplane. All are great if you want to spend one week in Seattle.

The train is a great way to travel to destinations in the state of Washington and neighboring states. This is especially so if you don't have your own car.

Buildings in Seattle

Another way to reach the city of Seattle is by bus. There are companies that offer routes from several cities. For example, there are routes from San Diego, Portland, and more. One of these companies is Greyhound.

Of course, you can also reach the city by car. This is often the fastest and most convenient way to get to the city.

Another way to reach the city of Seattle is by airplane.

The primary airport of the city is Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.

Many flights go here from both international as well as domestic destinations.

So if you're going to spend 7 days in Seattle, there are enough ways to get there!

Where to Stay for One Week in Seattle

If you are one week in Seattle there are many great places to stay. Each neighborhood of the city is unique and has something great to offer!

I recommend staying in Downtown Seattle, as that's where you can find most of the restaurants in the city. This makes this area very convenient! Besides that, there are many and shops in this part of the city.

Itinerary for One Week in Seattle

Let's start with this itinerary for 7 days in Seattle!

Day 1: Seeing Amazing Sights

It's the first day of your one week in Seattle! Today you are going to see some of the most amazing sights in the city.

Walk through Downtown Seattle

Let's start the first day by walking through Downtown Seattle. This is a great way to discover the heart of the city!

You find here lots of stores, restaurants, and other venues that are great to see.

If you like shopping, then this is the best place for that in Seattle.

What's great about walking around in the city center of Seattle is that it allows you to see the local life of the city! Also, you might stumble upon a great place that you like a lot!

Now it is time to see even more of the city, but then less close-up!

The Sky View Observatory is a great place where you can see the city of Seattle from above. It is the highest public place in the Pacific Northwest with a view.

From the top, you have a panoramic view through which you can exactly see what there is to do in the city.

That makes going here a great activity for the first day in Seattle. It serves as a great introduction for exploring even more of the city this week!

Visit the Seattle Public Library

When you are in Downtown Seattle I also recommend going to the Seattle Public Library.

This is a great place if you love reading books, as there are so many of those here.

But that's not the reason why you should visit it.

What's unique about the Seattle Public Library is how it looks. The building looks amazing!

The architecture of the building is very modern and it features a lot of glass. Furthermore, the structure is very futuristic, which is great to see when you are one week in Seattle!

See the Smith Tower

Another landmark in the city of Seattle is Smith Tower. This is a must-see when you're in the city.

This is the oldest skyscraper in the city and it looks lovely.

What makes it great to see during your 7 days in Seattle is not only how it looks. The history of the building is great as well! This makes the place very interesting.

At the time of the construction of the tower, it was the tallest building in the city. Furthermore, it was one of the largest skyscrapers outside of New York City then. That's very impressive.

This makes it a great place to see when you are walking through the city of Seattle.

Have Fun at the Seattle Great Wheel

The last activity on the first day of your one week in Seattle is going to the Seattle Great Wheel.

This is a giant Ferris wheel that is very fun to ride. And you can find this attraction in the city center next to Elliott Bay.

It is a very large Ferris wheel. In fact, at the time of its construction in 2012, it was the largest on the West Coast of the US. So that makes it very unique.

From the top of the Ferris wheel, you have a wonderful view of the city and Elliott Bay. You can also take some great photos if you're riding the Ferris wheel. Furthermore, it looks great as part of the skyline of Seattle.

Day 2: Doing Fun Activities During Your One Week in Seattle

Now it is time for the second day. Let's start with one of the most iconic sights in the city.

Go to the Space Needle

The Space Needle is on every photo of the city, so you cannot miss out on going here during your 7 days in Seattle!

The Space Needle is a lovely observation tower. You can find the observation deck at a height of 520 feet (or 160 meters).

From the top, you have a wonderful view of the city of Seattle.

Visit the Chihuly Garden and Glass

At the foot of the Space Needle, you can find the Chihuly Garden and Glass. This is an exhibit you have to see during your 7 days in Seattle!

It is a very special place with a lot of beautiful things. You can see here glass objects that Dale Chihuly created.

There are three main things at this exhibit.

The garden features a lot of outdoor glass sculptures that are wonderful to see. They consist of a variety of colors that look amazing next to the nature of the garden.

Besides that, you can visit the Glasshouse. Here you can find a large sculpture that features a lot of colorful glass flowers.

Also, there are indoor galleries with beautiful glass objects as well.

In short, it is a great place to visit during your one week in Seattle!

Walk through the Olympic Sculpture Park

Another great place with art is the Olympic Sculpture Park. You can find this place close to the Space Needle as well, next to the waterfront.

This is a park with lots of modern and contemporary sculptures. These objects are all very interesting to see.

What's great is that you can enter this place for free, which makes it a great place to visit this day as well!

Day 3: Explore Beyond Downtown

It's the third day! You're going to have a great day with some exciting things to do in Seattle.

Visit Kerry Park

The next site you are going to during your week in the city of Seattle is Kerry Park.

This is a small park that is a great place to visit.

It is a great place to sit down and admire the views. That's because from Kerry Park you can see the skyline of the city, including the Space Needle.

This is one of the prettiest places to see the skyline, and one of the most iconic, as you can see all the main buildings! That's why you should definitely visit this place during your one week in Seattle!

Explore the area of Fremont

After visiting Kerry Park it is time to explore the area of Fremont.

This is a great neighborhood in the city of Seattle. This area of Seattle is very trendy and you can find many extraordinary things here.

For example, you find here the Fremont Troll, which is a large sculpture of a troll. To find this sculpture you need to go under the Aurora Bridge.

Also, you find here lots of independent shops that are great to visit.

Day 4: Seeing Art During Your 7 Days in Seattle

Let's start the next day of this itinerary! Today is going to be a very fun day again.

It's day four of your 7 days in Seattle and it is time to discover more of the city's art!

Discover the Seattle Art Museum

A great place for seeing art is the Seattle Art Museum. This is definitely a must-see for those that like museums.

You can find lots of great changing exhibitions at the museum. The objects that feature in these exhibitions differ a lot. This is great as it allows you to see a variety of art when you see several of these exhibitions.

The permanent collection of the museum is great as well. There are European paintings and sculptures. Furthermore, the museum focuses on modern and ethnic art.

Go to Pike Place Market

After visiting the Seattle Art Museum, you should definitely go to Pike Place Market.

This is a large public market where you can find a lot of stands and shops selling all kinds of products.

For example, you can taste delicious seasonal food here! Also, you can get bread from a European bakery

Besides that, there are a lot of non-food items, such as comics, collectibles, books, and much more!

See The Gum Wall

Another great sight to see is The Gum Wall. You can find this wall in Downtown Seattle in an alleyway.

It is a wall covered in chewing gum and there is a lot of it. This makes the walls very colorful, which is why it is a very popular tourist attraction.

So when you are 7 days in Seattle, I recommend going here and sticking gum on the wall yourself!

Relax at Waterfront Park

Now it is time to go to the Waterfront Park.

This is a lovely public park that you can find in Downtown Seattle next to the water.

There are picnic tables, benches, and more. Also, you find here Waterfront Fountain

This makes it a great place for hanging out while going through the city!

But keep in mind that there isn't a lot of nature here.

Visit the Seattle Aquarium

After relaxing at the Waterfront Park, you should definitely go to Seattle Aquarium.

You find here a very large aquarium filled with all kinds of sea life.

In total, there are six exhibits. Each exhibit focuses on another part of the world and other animals.

This makes the place very interesting. Not only are the animals very beautiful to see, but it's also very interesting to learn about them.

Day 5: Seeing Nature During Your One Week in Seattle

On the fifth day of your 7 days in Seattle, you're going to see nature!

Go to the Washington Park Arboretum UW Botanic Gardens

On the fifth day of your one week in Seattle, you should definitely go to the Washington Park Arboretum.

This is part of Washington Park and you find here lots of beautiful nature.

There are walking trails that make it easy to discover the beauty of this place.

What's great is that some of the plants you find here, you won't find anywhere else in the Northwest.

See Union Bay

To the north of the Washington Park Arboretum is Union Bay, and that's where you should go next.

This is a great place to visit. What's great here is to walk along the bay and look at the water. This is a very relaxing activity!

Day 6: Some Extra Fun Things

Let's start the next day!

Start Your Day at the Starbucks Reserve Roastery

What's better than starting your day with a cup of coffee?

A great place for this is the Starbucks Reserve Roastery!

The large coffee chain actually started in the city of Seattle. This makes going here a great experience

At a Starbucks Reserve Roastery, you can have an even better experience than usual at the coffee shop.

It is a very unique place with delicious Starbucks coffee you find at every coffee shop.

But, you also find here exclusive coffee of the highest quality. These are often coffee from a single origin.

The one in Seattle was the first Starbucks Reserve Roastery in the world.

Attend a game at T-Mobile Park

When you are in Seattle I definitely recommend going to T-Mobile Park. This is a baseball park where you can attend a match if you happen to visit the city when there is one!

The stadium is where the Seattle Mariners play. This is a baseball team of Major League Baseball.

Attending a match is a great experience you will not forget! Thus, when you are 7 days in Seattle, you should definitely do so!

Day 7: The Last Day

It's the last day of your week in Seattle. This is going to be a fun day!

Relax and Hike at Discovery Park

On the last day of your 7 days in Seattle, I recommend going to Discovery Park. This is a very relaxing activity.

Discovery Park is the largest public park in Seattle. And you find here lots of hiking trails, making it a great place for hiking!

The landscape of the park is very diverse. You find here lots of treas, beaches, prairies, and more.

Also, it is a great place to see animals, such as birds. In fact, there are hundreds of different bird species you can find in Discovery Park.

See the West Point Lighthouse and the Beach

After hiking a bit in Discovery Park, you might stumble upon the West Point Lighthouse.

This is a lovely lighthouse that is awesome to see!

Moreover, the lighthouse is quite old, as it is from the year 1881. This makes the lighthouse very interesting to see if you like history. But it is still in use, which is amazing!

Next to the lighthouse, you can find a great beach. This is a very relaxing place to sit down, and also it is lovely to see!
