6 Free Things To Do in Venice, Italy

By Dymphe / January 5, 2023

In this article, you'll find 6 free things to do in Venice. Venice is a beautiful city in Italy, and there are many fun things to do!

Table of Contents

  • 1. Get inside St Mark’s Basilica
  • 2. Relax at a secret place
  • 3. Gallerie Accademia Venezia (on certain days it is free)
  • 4. Admire the Rialto Bridge
  • 5. Do a free walking tour
  • 6. Do a photoshoot

1. Get inside St Mark’s Basilica

St Mark's Basilica is the most famous church in this Italian city.

When you go to Venice, you have to see it! Therefore I also include it in my one day in Venice itinerary.

It is located on Piazza San Marco. The architecture of the church is really amazing and from the inside, it is also very beautiful. Entry to the church is free.

2. Relax at a secret place

This pier is behind hotel San Moise and it is a lovely place to spend a few hours when you're in Venice.

It's a very quiet place and the view is really magnificent.

Here, gondolas keep passing by and you can enjoy them in private.

Moreover, I'd recommend eating a pizza there and enjoying the beauty of Venice. This is a very special experience!

3. Gallerie Accademia Venezia (on certain days it is free)

Gallerie Accademia Venezia is a museum located next to the Ponte dell'Accademia along Canal Grande in the neighbourhood Dorsoduro in Venice.

In this museum, you'll find pre-19th-century art.

Also, on some days, you can visit Gallerie Accademia Venezia for free!

You can check this page to see on which exact dates the entry is free (under 'Free admission days').

4. Admire the Rialto Bridge

There are four bridges in Venice that span the Grand Canal in Venice, and the Rialto Bridge is the oldest of them.

Furthermore, it is a very famous bridge and it's also a tourist attraction at the moment.

The bridge is just so beautiful, I really love the architecture of it.

Also, when you're standing on the bridge, the view is truly magical.

5. Do a free walking tour

In Venice, there are several free walking tours you can do. It's definitely a great experience because you can discover Venice and get a lot of information from a local!

You can also get food suggestions and guide recommendations during the free walking tour.

Furthermore, you'll get tips from locals about what to do and what not to do in Venice.

You can book a free walking tour here!
