6 Free Things To Do In Nashville, Tennessee

By Dymphe / September 20, 2022

Looking for free things to do in Nashville, United States? Then this is the article for you! Here you find a list of the best things to do while you are on a budget.

There are lots of things to do in Nashville, but which free ones are there?

Table of Contents

  • 1. Enjoy some free music
  • 2. Do a free walking tour
  • 3. Learn about Tennessee history
  • 4. See live theatre performances
  • 5. Stroll through Centennial Park
  • 6. Enjoy free concerts

1. Enjoy some free music

Nashville is also known as the Music City. So maybe you want to listen to some free music while you are in the city.

If you do, then go to the Nashville Symphony's free community concert series.

Every summer you can listen here to both classical as well as popular music. This is amazing to experience!

2. Do a free walking tour

When you want to learn about the city with a local guide, do a free walking tour! A tour which I would recommend is the one by Free Nashville Walking Tours.

They offer a 2-hour walking tour once per week during which your guide will tell you all about downtown Nashville!

However, be sure to reserve your spot beforehand!

3. Learn about Tennessee history

To learn more about the history of the state of Tennessee, go to the Tennessee State Museum.

You find here all kinds of historical objects, such as art, furniture, photographs, textiles, and many other things.

4. See live theatre performances

At the Nashville Shakespeare Festival, you can see all kinds of live Shakespeare performances, with a different one each year.

Performances are in summer at Centennial Park and in winter at Troutt Theater.

5. Stroll through Centennial Park

For a relaxing stroll through the park head to Centennial Park. It is a park with a great history.

As it was originally farmland, later used as an exposition site, and now for more than 100 years used as a park.

While you are in Centennial Park you should definitely also look at the Parthenon, which is a replica of the Parthenon in Athens!

It was built in 1897 during the Tennessee Centennial Exposition and looks really impressive.

6. Enjoy free concerts

At the Vanderbilt Blair School of Music and Belmont School of Music, you can enjoy hundreds of free concerts every year.

Best of all, there is a wide variety of genres, so there is always something for your liking!

From jazz to country to pop music. One of the most fun free things to do in Nashville!
